Is it about race?
Only one person knows for sure…and that’s Powell.
Powell claims that he’s not happy with the “rightward shift” of the Republican party.
Any merit in his accusation???
Listen to Republican Senator Michelle Bachmann
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESdA52S4Dbg" rel="nofollow">Click to watch Senator Michelle Bachmann’s interview </a>
So...what do you think??. Is Powell just imagining things?

Colin Powell has had an extremely distinguished career in service of his country and it is sad to see how some are viciously attacking him in the wake of Mr. Powell's endorsement of Senator Obama. This is a man who rose to be the chief commandant of all the military branches of the United States and served as the Secretary of State. He is a man much respected throughout the United States and the world, those whom are not in agreement with him should at least be agreeable in their disagreement instead of continuing the Politics of Hate and Division by screeching that he is endorsing Obama because of skin color (a racist charge if there ever was one) or that he has 'betrayed a friendship' by doing so.

Betrayal is in the eye of the beholder as some may view the Hate/Division tactics emblified in the Ayers/Socialist charges as betrayals of democracy - insults camouflaged as dialog are founded in hyperbole and in a vituperative bitterness and are not campaign platforms - they're more of the divide-and-conquer tactics that Karl Rove has unleashed on the political process.

It's interesting to see that the main reaction to the former Secretary of State's endorsement is to attack the messenger and his motives instead of to question the message. If one reads the narrative of the endorsement one sees why that is so - it is a cogent and well-reasoned statement and regardless of whether one agrees with it or not it is a statement of a reasoned and intelligent man who is owed respect and not the bitter and childish retorts that some are using to throw dirt upon a great American.

Powell's endorsement of Obama does not verify Obama's judgement, but rather brings Powell's judgement into question. Powell says that Obama is ready to lead ... WHY? ... Regardless of Powell's last minute endorsement, Obama is still the most liberal senator in congress ... who accomplished nothing in his meager 3 years in office, except voting present 160 times, and campaigning for President, as well as associating with anti-American racists and domestic terrorists ... and, taking America down the road to socialism. Obama betrayed a friendship of 20 years, for personal ambition. Powell betrayed his friendship with McCain. McCain did not betray his fellow prisoners, even during 5 years of torture. These facts speak volumes about who these men really are, and whether or not we can trust them.

I wonder if a poll is necessary to determine if the average but non-informed American is more uneasy with Arabs in general or Muslims. Or does he realize that some Arabs may not even be Muslims . . .
