It is true that more than 2/3 of Vietnamese Americans blindly vote for Republicans. We are probably the Judas of the Asian American community, sadly. For an alternative view, please drop by this Vietnamese American website: www.visualgui.com

Few words about my background. A Vietnamese American who left Vietnam in the late 1970's as boat people and have lived in the U.S for nearly 30 years. I have a few things to say about the politics of most of Vietnamese living in the U.S.

Vietnamese Americans tend to vote Republican. PERIOD. The reason and perhaps the only reason is that they are holding on the illusion that the G.O.P is still anti-communist and, for them the Cold War is still going on. They tend to disregard other issues such as the economy, social issues, health care, education, race relation, etc..

I am looking at this as a very serious problem. Older Vietnamese Americans who typically are not fluent in reading English so the only media they are getting are Vietnamese language media, which are still steadfastly feeding their readers/audience with anti-communist views of decades ago. The messages from the Democrats are not being delivered well on these media, if delivered at all. Unfortunately they are missing out on different political point of views that are found on mainstream U.S media.

To me a vote casted by a less than fully informed voter is a total waste of a vote.

I was born in Vietnam although I've leave in the US for most of my life.
I am not questioning whether or not McCain is a hero or not.
I just don't want another 4 years of Bush-like administration.

I'm one Vietnamese that is NOT for McCain.

Obama 2008!

I think McCain secretly considers Vietnamese people to be second class citizens. You can't use a racial slur and say it only is meant for a certain segment of your population. For you to arrive at a place where a racial slur is necessary to articulate your thoughts means that your level of hatred is so great that your mind cannot clearly distinguish individuals. It's like calling an African-American person the "N" word but saying, "I only meant it for these specific people, not you." See how far that gets you. I'm not calling him a full blown racist by any means but there are degrees of racism and McCain obviously harbors some towards Vietnamese people.

All that aside though, I see him as being divisive and I question his ability to unite Congress which is 100% necessary to be successful. His choice of Palin doesn't help given her documented history of strong-arm tactics as a mayor and governor. That might have worked in Alaska but not in Washington. There's nothing in her history to show that she can be effective without being the boss lady which she certainly will not be in Washington.

In this instance, I'd rather go with a relative unknown with potential than a candidate with a proven unremarkable track record.

Obama has been running around like a chicken with his head cut off!

WHY IS OBAMA CHALLENGING GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN?

GOVERNOR PALIN IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!!

WHY DOES OBAMA CONSTANTLY TELL US WHAT PRESIDENT BUSH HAS DONE?
WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT HE HAS DONE.

PRESIDENT BUSH IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!!!

And WHY did Obama challenge Governor Sarah Palin to a game of basketball? Why did he refuse to meet with McCain in town-hall meetings to discuss “issues” with ‘American citizens’ instead of going overseas to meet with ‘foreigners’ who can’t vote?

He refused to go on O’Reilly until the night John McCain gave his acceptance speech at the RNC. Obama is a snake in the grass.

OBAMA IS TOO INEXPERIENCED AND IMMATURE TO HOLD THIS OFFICE. HE HAS TOLD TOO MANY LIES. HE HAS TOO MANY TIES TO TERRORISTS AND ANTI-AMERICANS. HIS 17-YEAR ASSOCIATION WITH TERRORIST WILLIAM AYERS ALONE DISQUALIFIES HIM.

I’M VOTING FOR THE HONORABLE JOHN McCAIN. EXPERIENCE DOES MATTER.
